Run for the Heart
Below are the award winners for the 2008 10K Run for the Heart held on
Saturday morning, April 5, 2007.  The race was sponsored by the Knights
of Columbus Council 5480 for the benefit of the American Heart
Association.
 
The 10K course started on Stable Road in Newport News Park, Newport News,
VA.  The course was on roads and trails within the park.  This year the
race dodged a bullet weather-wise.  After heavy rain overnight with heavy
rain expected later in the day, conditions were cloudy with a slight
breeze and occasional sprinkle.  Temperatures were in the 60s which made
for nice running weather. 

92 runners entered the 10K (down only slightly from 96 in 2007, probably
due to the questionable weather conditions experienced overnight) with 71
completing the race.  

Notable finishes included Connie Glueck and Gaphne Glueck, mother and
daughter, who finished as the top 1 and 2 women overall in the 10K.

Results are provided by the Peninsula Track Club.  The course is
accurately measured, but is not USATF certified at this time.

winners for the 10K.
