The award winners for the 20th Annual Yorktown Battlefield 10 Miler & 5K runs held on the tour roads of the Yorktown Battlfield on Saturday morning, November 2, 2013. The race was sponsored by the Yorktown Lion’s Club. Finish line and results services were provided by the Peninsula Track Club.Both courses started and finished near Surrender Field on the battlefield. Conditions at race time for the 5K were cloudy and breezy with temperatures in the 60s. For the 10 Miler conditions were partly cloudy to mostly sunny with the temperatures in the upper 60s.
A total of 238 runners entered the events (up from 194 in 2012). 135 runners completed the 10 Miler (down from 154 in 2012) In the 5K, 68 runners completed the course, (up from 40 in 2012).

The 10 Miler course is USATF certified (VA12072RT). The 5K course is not certified. Both courses were run correctly by the runners.

There was good competition in the 10 Miler for the women. 1st Woman Overall, Renee High, 32 of Virginia Beach, VA finishing with a 1:01:31was 34 seconds short of setting a course record for women (the record is 1:00:57 and was set in 1996 by Claudia Kasen)

2nd Woman Overall was Courtney Chapman, 30 of Norfolk, VA with a time of 1:07:22, but she placed second after winning the 5K held an hour earlier.

For the men, Matthew Cypher, 36 of Arlington, VA broke the 1 hour mark with a time of 59:49. Douglas Marshall, 39 of Mathews, VA came in second in 1:00:23
