The 11th Annual CNU/OYSTER POINTER 5K Fall Classic held at Christopher Newport University in Newport News on Saturday morning, September 17, 2011. The race was organized by the CNU Alumni Society with the Oyster Pointer magazine as primary race sponsor.
The race course starts and finishes near the Ferguson Center on the CNU
campus. The course went down Shoe Lane, turned on Moores Lane to Selden Road, then made a loop on Country Club, Central Parkway, Riverside Drive and back on Selden Road to return to CNU. This new course is a USATF certified 5K, cert. # VA-05028-RT. Runners ran the course as certified. Conditions at race time were breezey with a light rain and temperatures in the low 60s.
241 runners entered the 5K (up from 162 in 2010) with 194 runners
completing the course (up from 156 in 2010).
