Hello Peninsula Track Club!
My name is Heleena Winter and I’m the Special Events Intern for Carpenter’s Shelter in Alexandria, Virginia. We are hosting our annual Run for Shelter on November 22nd, from 8am-10am. The race will include a 10k, 5k, and 1 Mile Fun Run. Last year, we had almost 1000 participants and hope to see even more joining us this year!
Race proceeds will support Carpenter’s Shelter. Carpenter’s has been helping homeless individuals and families achieve sustainable independence through shelter, guidance, education, and advocacy since 1988. 90% of the shelter graduates never again return to homelessness.
The course is an out and back on Eisenhower Avenue in Alexandria, VA, and is USATF certified (VA -10004-RT). Timing is provided by ARE Event Productions in Association with Pacers Events. The registration fee is $35. All runners participating in this race will receive a technical shirt and swag bag if they register by November 1st. In addition, fastest overall men and women for the 10k and 5k will receive the following prizes: 1st: $100, 2nd: $75, 3rd: $50. More details can be found online at: http://www.runforshelter10k.com/
