The PTC mission statement mentions the benefits of fitness and running as a means of preserving health. The PTC supports training for new and experienced runners to maximize the potential of its members. Involvement in coaching is a method of making that happen.

This page is organized in links to established runner sites and discusses training methods, intervals for speed and endurance, and heart rate monitoring and training.

In all cases, the PTC wants to emphasize that MENTAL Effort goes with Physical Effort. Reading about running, and doing it will optimize your own level of fitness so that runners can meet their goals.

Intervals and Workouts.

Peninsula Track Club hosts intervals at the Tabb High Track off of Big Bethel Road. This is current being run on Wednesday nights to enable folks running in races on Saturdays to get some rest before their events. Check here for photos of participants to see your form etc. Occasionally, movies will show runners in action. Note: the thumbnail photos below will expand on a double mouse click. The segment below dates from 20 April 2005

Meeting minimum standards for fitness:

Our web site has a disclaimer. It says, the club is not liable for things you do with your body. However, the PTC believes that goals drive fitness, and so it is important to choose a goal and then choose a method for getting there. The PTC can assist here in determing your level of fitness, and in assessing what you need to do to reach your goals. The table below can direct you in some of these directions.

I have tried to find definitive links to help you train. You can find these yourself by surfing the web. But here is a distilation of links I consider definitive for training support. (Toad)
