Running and Marathoning, while not an inherently dangerous activity, can cause injuries if certain fitness levels are not reached before participating in endurance events!

The coaching program the PTC has set up will build recreational runners up slowly for their target race. We can advise on training regimens, injuries, (but not dispense medical advice) provide opportunities for individual and team training as well as provide opportunities for community service.

The PTC recommends that you have a thorough physical before beginning any exercise program! Get training from persons experienced in distance running. Beginning runners are especially susceptible to a panolpy of injuries. Smart training will get you running and keep you running without too many trips to the hospital.

Most races have liability statements on the application form. Runners who do not sign this statement will not be allowed to run. The statements say that the Track Club and the hosting organization or race sponsors are not liable for any injuries incurred as a result of a runner's participation in the race. Please read these statements before you run.

A word on Safety. The PTC is committed to your safety. The PTC will not allow a race to occur if in the estimation of the PTC executive race director or a club representative, at the time of scheduled race start, an unsafe race condition exists. This could be (but not limited to:) Road or course hazards; weather phenonmena such as winds, snow, ice, lightning, hail, sleet; or other causes that impair the health and well being of runners.

IF a race or PTC sponsored run is cancelled due to any of these conditions where the safety of runners is in doubt, race fee recompensement will be between the runner and the race sponsor unless the PTC is the sponsor.

Runners participating in PTC sponsored races should have their runners numbers afixed to the FRONT of their clothing to allow race results to be fair and impartial.

The PTC is an equal opportunity club and does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, or religion.

The PTC reserves the right to disqualify any individual who is disruptive, abusive, or a threat to the safety or well being of other runners participating in a scheduled race.

The PTC recommends that runners not participate in races with pets, baby strollers, earphones or personal stereos or CD players. The PTC tolerates bandits (defined as those people who participate in a race without paying the race fee) IF they do not pass through the final race chute processing at the finish line. A PTC member will always be at the head of the finish line to direct these individuals away from the scoring line.
