For the 2 hours prior to the race, a cold steady rain fell. Then at race time the rain let up for the most part leaving cool and cloudy conditions with temperatures aroound 50. The course was 193 runners entered the 5K (up from 162 in 2011) with 186 runners completing the course (up from 122 in 2011). |

At left are the award winners for the 14th Annual Fort Eustis 10K held at Fort Eustis, VA. The race was held on Saturday morning, March 3, 2012 sponsored by the Fort Eustis MWR. The race was conducted and results The course for the Fort Eustis 10K is USATF certified (VA02048RT) and was run as certified. The race started and finished at Anderson Fieldhouse on Fort Eustis. This is the 3rd race of the 2011 Peninsula Track Club Grand Prix series. A record 241 runners entered the 10K (up from 231in 2011 - beating the record of 236 runners in 2007) with 193 completing the race (down from 203 in 2011). The reason for the lower number of finishers was probably due to runners who didn't show due to the stormy weather experienced by The stormy weather may well have played a part in the increased raceday turnout. About 10% of the race day entries came to the Peninsula from Virginia Beach. Notably, the race winner, Pete Gibson from Murfreesboro, Masters runners dominated the Overall categories with performances including Pete Gibson, 55 of Murfreesboro, NC who was 1st Male Overall in the 10K with a time of 36:38. First Woman Overall was Connie Glueck, 47 of Williamsburg in a time of 43:08. Most notable was Tami Graf, 75 of Lusby, MD who set a Virginia State Record in the 10K for Women 75-79 with a time of 1:06:24. The previous VA state record for women in this age group was held by Marjorie Mitchell with a time of 1:08:44 set in 1992. |

The race was held on Saturday morning, April 14, 2012 and was organized to raise awareness for Aplastic Anemia, Paroxsymal Nocturnal Hemoflobinuria and Myelodysplastic Syndrome. The race itself was conducted by the Peninsula Track Club. 135 runners entered the 5K race (down from 155 in 2011) with 119 completing the course (down from 128 in 2011). The race started at Poquoson High School, followed a loop course on Odd Road and finished at the Poquoson Elementary School. The course is accurately measured but is not USATF certified. The race was organized by the Riverside The race started at Petersen's Yacht Basin and followed Chesapeake Ave with a turnaround trough the neighborhood near the Newport News/Hampton City Line. The finish was back at the Riverside Rehab facility. Conditions at race time were mostly sunny, humid with temperatures in the upper 60s. 429 runners entered the 5K (up from 346 in 2011) with 367 runners completing the course (up from 310 in 2011). The 5K by the Bay course is USATF certified VA10022RT and the course was run correctly by the runners. |

Conditions at race time were clear, sunny with temperatures in the 60s. The race, starting and ending near the Lytle Law Office just off Canon Blvd, was run on streets around the Oyster Point Business Park. The course is not USATF certified. 350 runners entered the 5K (up from 329 in 2011) with 305 completing the course (up from 279 in 2011). For the second year in a row, Karen Terry, 23 of Newport News set an overall course record for women with a time of 18:44, breaking the record she set in 2010 (19:29). |

Below are the award winners for the 2012 Yorktown Freedom Run 5K held on Memorial Day morning, Monday, May 28, 2012. The race course was a cross country course of some roads and mostly cross country dirt paths on the Grafton High School athletic fields and adjacent trails. The race started and finished at Grafton High School. The race event was organized and directed by the Yorktown Rotary Club. The race itself was conducted and results were generated by the Peninsula Track Club. Conditions at race time were coudy, warm and humid with temperatures 337 runners entered the 5K (up from 314 in 2011) with 323 runners completing the 5K (up from 299 in 2011). The 5K race course is not certified, but was accurately measured and was followed correctly by the runners. First overall was John Piggott, 47 of Williamsburg (17:18). Second finisher overall was Gregory Dawson, 46 of Williamsburg (17:54) who was awarded 1st Master due to the higher prize money awarded in that category. Jennifer Quarles, 40 of Williamsburg was the 1st woman (19:09) followed by Rachel Rabbitt, 17 of Newport News (20:09) who both set age group records. In fact 6 age group records were set for women including Jennifer Quarles (19:09 for women 40-44), Rachel Rabbit (20:09 for woment 15-19), Paula Henry of Yorktown (24:02 form women 50-54), Linsey Cousins of Hampton (20:17 for women 25-29), Helen Worhtington of Bena (25:27 form Jensen Morales, 10 of Hampton set the only age group record for the men (21:20 for men 10-14) Prize money was awarded to the top 3 eligible runners overall ($100, $50, $25), and top 3 masters runners (40+) ($100, $50, $25). |

| 4 July | Independence Day Run 8K | Below are the award winners for the 4th Annual Yorktown Independence Day 8K Run held on the Tour Roads of the historic Yorktown Battlefield in The 8K race course starts on the Tour Roads near the Route 17 overpass, heads in the direction of George Washington's Headquarters, then follows For the second year in a row a new course record for men was set this year. Overall winner, Caleb Doan, 22 of Virginia Beach set a new course record for the 8K with a time of 25:38 breaking the mark set by John Holt in 2011 of 26:08. Caleb was in fact the 2nd place finisher in 2011 (26:21) bettering his time by 43 seconds this year. Age group records fell as well with 9 new age group records being set (5 for the men, 4 for the women) New age group records were set for: 459 runners entered the 8K (down from the record 496 in 2011) with 426 runners completing the 8K (down from 458 in 2011) within the one and a The Yorktown Independence Day 8K is the sixth race in the 12 race Peninsula Track Club Grand Prix Series. | 4 Aug | Coast Guard Day 5K Coast Guard Station Yorktown | Below are the award winners for the 24th Annual Coast Guard Day 5K held at Coast Guard Training Center in Yorktown, VA on Saturday morning, A record 363 runners entered the 5K (up from the previous record of 327 in 2011) with a record 332 runners completing the race (up from the record of 308 in 2010). The race started near the gym on the Coast Guard base, went out the front gate onto the Yorktown Battlefield, making a loop that went downhill to the Wormley Creek Dam, then back uphill Awards for both male and female were given to the top 3 runners overall, top 3 runners in each age group, and top three active duty Coast Guard personnel. In the 24th running of the event, three course records were set despite the warm, humid conditions. The Noland Trail 10K course starts at the Mariners' Museum on Museum Drive, runs down towards River Road before doubling back to enter the Noland Trail near the Museum Administration building.
