  • Virginia Senior Games 10K, RESULTS 2016

    The 2016 Virginia Senior Games 10K held in Newport News Park in Newport News, VA on Friday morning, May 20, 2016  The race is part of the Annual Virginia Senior
    Games being held in Newport News, VA this year.  Finish line and results services were provided by the Peninsula Track Club.
    The Virginia Senior Games 10K consisted of two laps along the VSG 5K
    course (which was run on Thursday).  This is a triple out-and-back
    starting at the Ranger Station on Constitution Avenue in Newport News
    Park.  The course ran the length of Constitution Avenue (two of the
    out-and-backs) with an out-and-back section on Stable Road.  The 10K
    course is USATF certified #VA14023RT.  The runners ran the course
    correctly as measured.  Conditions at race time were sunny with
    temperatures in the 60s.

    Awards went to the age group winners only. Age groups are determined by
    the runners age as of Dec 31, 2016 per Virginia Senior Games guidelines.

    Of the four years the City of Newport News has hosted the Virginia Senior
    Games, the 2016 edition of the VSG 5K and VSG 10K both had the largest
    fields of registered runners and finishers.  In the Virginia Senior Games
    10K, there were 27 athletes entered with 26 completing the 10K course.
    At the Virginia Senior Games 5K held on Thursday, May, 19, 2016, 51
    runners entered the race with 43 completing the 5K.

    In the VSG 10K, first overall male was John Piggott, 51 of Williamsburg,
    VA in a time of 37:32 (6:03 per mile pace).  First woman was Connie
    Glueck, 52 of Williamsburg, VA with a time of 47:38 (7:40 pace).  Jophn
    Piggott and Connie Glueck were both also the top overall male and female
    finisher at the Virginia Senior Games 5K held  on Thursday

    A copy of the results is attached to this e-mail both as text files
    (.txt) and as Word 2003 files (.doc).   The VSG10Kall files contain the age group award winners as well as the
    overall finishers for the 10K.
