The 4th Annual Knights of Columbus 10 Mile Run for the Heart held on the tour roads of the Yorktown Battlefield on Saturday morning, February 20, 2016. The race was sponsored by the Knights of Columbus with proceeds benefiting the American Heart
Association.Weather hasn’t been the best of friends to the Knights of Columbus 10
Miler. For the third time in four years the race had been postponed from
its original late January date due to snow or ice which closed the
Battlefield Tour Roads. But runners who raced this year were treated to
a perfect day for running. Conditions at race time were mostly sunny
with temperatures at 50 degrees with a breeze.Finish line and results services were provided by the Peninsula Track
Club. A copy of the results, links to pictures from the race and
listings for future road races can be found on the PTC website:
www.peninsulatrackclub.com.The course started and finished near Surrender Field on the Yorktown
Battlefield. The 10 Mile course is USATF certified #VA12072RT and was
run as certified.A total of 90 runners entered the 10 Miler with 68 runners completing the
course.
Overall awards were given to the top 5 men and top 5 women.

The 6th Annual JBLE Race Around the Base 10 Miler & 5K held at Langley Air Force Base, VA on Saturday morning, December 12, 2015. The 10 Miler is a USATF certified course VA14072RT. The 5K is not certified. Easily the warmest day in the six years the Race Around the Base has been held, conditions were warm, sunny with a slight breeze and a temperature of 59 at race start moving into the mid 60s during the run. A total of 158 runners entered the events with 118 completing the 10 Miler and 9 completing the 5K. Awards went to the first overall man and woman and first place runner in each age group. Are You Up for the Challenge?!
Swag bags guaranteed for the first 200 Registrants! Race package/swag bag pickup for runners will begin 3 Dec 2015 at the Shellbank Fitness Center Front Desk, during normal business duty hours. There will be no day of race registration. Race begins at 0900. Peninsula Track Club (PTC) Event!
Race Course: A 10 mile loop & 5K course around Langley AFB. The course is flat, paved and all the miles are marked. Participants should check in at the Shellbank Fitness Center NLT 0830. Course is USATF certified (VA14072RT).
Military Challenge: Register with a 5 man team. All members must be Military and in the same branch of service. All members run 10 mile course, lowest cumulative time wins.
Awards: Trophies to overall 1st place for male and female runner of 10 mile and 5K, team award to Military Challenge 5 man team. Plaques to 1st place male and female for each age group. Age groups are: 19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over.
Runners will receive a race package which includes a commemorative dry fit t-shirt, race bag, towel, water bottle and a medal.
