The award winners and full results for the 10th Annual Fox Hill Community 5K held at Gosnold’s Hope Park in the Fox Hill area of Hampton, VA on Saturday, June 3, 2023.  The race was conducted, and results were generated by the Peninsula Track Club.  Conditions at race time were mostly overcast with a temperature of 66 at race start.  The race started and ended near the Langley Elementary School in Fox Hill and ran the roads and paths around Gosnold’s Hope Park.  The course is not USATF certified.  103 runners and walkers entered the 5K with 92 completing the 5K course.  15 runners entered the 1 mile fun run held just before the 5K.  The Overall winner and Top finisher for the Men was Cole Shugart, 25 of Richmond VA in a blistering time of 15:00 (4:49 per mile pace) which broke the previous course record of 16:37 set by Ed Rietscha in 2012 by over a minute and a half.  2nd Overall Male was Joshua Carpenter, 35 of Smithfield, VA finishing in 19:18.  And for the second year in a row, Kelvin Anderson took 3rd Male Overall this year with a time of 19:50.For the women, 1st Woman Overall was Kylee O’Bryan, 34 of Kitty Hawk, NC in 23:41 (7:37 pace).  Second Woman Overall was Missy Salisbury, 53 of Lorton, VA in 24:08 followed by Jennifer Parker, 39 of Hampton, VA with a time of 25:50.In addition to the new Overall course record of 15:00 set by Cole Shugart, three new course records were set at the 2023 edition of the Fox Hill Community 5K.The race winner, Cole Shugart, 25 of Richmond VA not only set a new course record, but his time of 15:00 also broke the age group record for Men 25-29 which was 17:58 set by Steven Brewer in 2014.Third place Male, Kelvin Anderson, 62 of Newport News VA set a new age group record for Men 60-64 with a time of 19:50 bettering the time of 21:07 that Kelvin himself set in 2022.The second Woman Overall, Missy Salisbury, 53 set a new age group record for Women 50-54 with a time of 24:08 besting the time of 25:53 set by Thea Ganoe in 2012.
