The 5th Annual Newport News Jingle Bell 5K Run/Walk for Arthritis held in Newport News Park in Newport News, VA on Saturday morning, November 22, 2014 The race was sponsored by the Arthritis Foundation.
Finish line and results services were provided by the Peninsula Track Club. A copy of the results, links to pictures and listings for future road races can be found on the PTC website: www.peninsulatrackclub.com.
The Jingle Bell 5K was a triple out-and-back course starting at the Ranger Station on Constitution Avenue in Newport News Park. The course ran the length of Constitution Avenue (two of the out-and-backs) with an out-and-back section on Stable Road. The course is USATF certified #VA13054RT and the runners ran the course as certified. Conditions at race time were sunny and cold with temperatures in the upper 30s. The 2014 was also the 11th race in the 12-race PTC Grand Prix competition. The final PTC Grand Prix race will be the Run with the Son 5K for Haiti on December 5.
A total of 310 people participated in the Jingle Bell 5K Run, 3K Walk and Kid’s Fun Run. However only the 5K was scored. A total of 183 runners entered the 5K (down from 258 in 2013) with 143 completing the course (down from 215 in 2013). Awards were given based on 10-year age groups as listed below and in the attached listings.
