Below and attached are the award winners for the 1st ANNUAL SCOUT STRONG 5K held at the Mariners’ Museum Park Warwick Field on Saturday, August 10, 2024.  The race was sponsored by the Boy Scouts of America Colonial Virginia Council.

Originally it was planned that the Scout Strong 5K would follow the out-and-back course which started in the Mariners’ Museum Park across from Warwick High School, following Boundary Road to and across Lion’s Bridge before returning to finish near the race start.  However, due to the construction on Lion’s Bridge, the 5K course had to be revised.  The Scout Strong 5K started in the Mariner’s Museum Park and also followed Boundary Road but turned around before Lion’s Bridge.  An additional loop on a side road off Boundary Road was added to make up some additional distance.  In any event, the revised 5K course was actually 2.94 miles in length.  The revised course was followed correctly by the runners.  Pace calculations in the results were adjusted for the 2.94 mile race course length.

The 1st ANNUAL SCOUT STRONG 5K was held under typical running conditions for mid-August; mostly sunny and very humid with a temperature of 78 at race start.  75 runners and walkers entered the event with 64 completing the revised 5K course.  Awards went to the Top 3 Male and Female finishers as well as the Top 3 of each age group.

Finish line and results services were provided by the Peninsula Track Club.  A copy of the results, links to pictures from the race and listings for future road races can be found on the PTC website: www.peninsulatrackclub.com.
