The 2014 Race for HOPE 10K & 5K was held at the Mariners’ Museum in Newport News, VA on Saturday morning, September 6, 2014 The race was sponsored by Share Heart in Africa, Inc. Finish line and race results services were provided by the Peninsula Track Club. Race course and finish area setup was provided by Race in a Box.
Both the 5K & 10K courses started and finished near the Mariners’ Museum on Museum Drive. Neither the 5K nor 10K are USATF Certified at this time. Conditions at race time fine for the 10K at 8:00 am was warm, sunny with a slight breeze and tempertures around 80. For the 5K at 9:30 conditions were the same, but temperatures had climbed into the mid-80s. A total of 131 runners entered the races (95 in the 5K and 36 in the 10K) 89 runners completing the 5K and 35 runners completing the 10K.
