Below are the award winners and full results for the 40th Annual Sarfan Center Donut Dash 5K & 1 Mile Fun Runs held on the Mariners’ Museum Warwick Field in Newport News, VA on Sunday, May 17, 2026. The race was conducted and results were generated by the Peninsula Track Club. Conditions at race time were good for running, sunny and warming with a temperature of 73 at race start.
The out-and-back 5K course started in the Mariners’ Museum Park across from Warwick High School, followed park roads out to and across Lion’s Bridge before returning to finish near the race start. The 5K course is USATF Certified #VA17036RT and was followed correctly by the runners. The 1 Mile course was an out-and-back over the first half mile of the 5K course and is not certified.
130 runners and walkers entered the events with 79 entered in the 5K with 61 completing the 5K course while 51 runners and walkers entered the 1 Mile with 45 completing the 1-mile fun run. Awards went to the Top 3 Overall and the first runner in each age group in the 5K. No awards in the timed 1-Mile Fun Run.
In the 5K for the Men, first place Overall was Toby Worm, 53 of Smithfield VA in a time of 19:10 (6:11 per mile pace). 2nd for the Men was Tristan Stewart, 44 of Hampton VA in a time of 20:24. 3rd place for the Men was Adam Mendelson, 36 of Newport News VA in 23:07.
For the Women, first place was Lindsay Morena, 41 of Newport News VA with a time of 23:52 (7:41 per mile pace). 2nd Woman was Katelyn Brockmiller, 34 of Yorktown VA finishing in 25:55. 3rd place for the Women was Kyla Arager, 35 of Bethesda MD in a time of 26:59.
