The award winners for the 29th Annual Yorktown Battlefield 10-Mile Run are listed below. It was held on the tour roads of the Yorktown Battlefield on Saturday morning, November 5, 2022. The race was sponsored by The Yorktown Lions Club.The course started and finished near Surrender Field on the Yorktown Battlefield. The 10 Mile course is USATF certified #VA12072RT and was followed correctly by the runners. The Yorktown Battlefield 10 Miler is the ninth race of the 11-race 2022 Peninsula Track Club Grand Prix race series as well as a Hampton Roads Super Grand Prix event.The 2022 edition of the Yorktown Battlefield 10-Mile Run was held under warm running conditions: clear and sunny, with a temperature of 68 at race start, but rising during the first hour of the event to 75 degrees. 108 runners entered the 10-Mile Run for the Heart with 98 completing the 10 Mile course on the scenic Yorktown Battlefield.One new age group course record for the Yorktown Battlefield 10-Mile Run was set today, but it is also a new Virginia State age group record in the 10 Mile distance.For Women 9 & Under, Isabella Strumke, 9 of Toano, VA set a new age group record at the Yorktown Battlefield 10 Miler with a time of 1:19:18 besting the previous time at the of 1:43:23 set by Sydney Garrett in 2010. Isabella Strumke’s time of 1:19:18 in fact is quicker than the current Virginia State 10 Mile record of 1:37:23 set by Katie Hamlin in 1990, making Strumke’s mark the new Virginia State record for Women 9 & Under.
