The 2015 Virginia Senior Games 5K held in Newport News Park in Newport News, VA on Thursday morning, May 14, 2015 The race is part of the Virginia Senior Games being held this year in Newport News, VA.
Finish line and results services were provided by the Peninsula Track Club. The course for the Virginia Senior Games 5K was a triple out-and-back starting at the Ranger Station on Constitution Avenue in Newport News Park. The course ran the length of Constitution Avenue (two of the out-and-backs) with an out-and-back section on Stable Road. The course is USATF certified #VA13054RT. The runners ran the course correctly as measured. Conditions at race time were sunny with a breeze and temperatures around 60.
Awards went to the age group winners only. Age groups are determined by the runners age as of Dec 31, 2014 per Virginia Senior Games guidelines.
First overall male was Ted Poulos, 50 of McLean, VA in a time of 19:06. First woman was Valor Foy Jones, 51 of Newport News, VA with a time of 25:43. An outstanding performance was delivered by 91-year old Robert S. White of Hampton with a time of 40:10, just 1:26 behind the Virginia State record for men 90-94 that was set at the Virginia Senior Games 5K in 2014. Mary Foreman’s time is a new state record (none previous).
