Run or Walk Through Virginia’s Rich History
Below and attached are the award winners and full results for the 4th Annual TIMBERNECK 5K held on a loop course in the Machicomoco State Park on Saturday morning, June 20, 2026. The race was sponsored by the Peninsula Track Club and benefits Fairfield Foundation for the preservation and restoration of the historic Timberneck house on the grounds of Machicomoco State Park in Hayes VA.
The Timberneck 5K course started and finished close to the pavilion nearest to the Timberneck House and consisted of a full 3.1 mile loop of Timberneck Farm Road. The Timberneck 5K course is USATF certified #VA26016RT. The Timberneck 5K is also the fifth event in the 12-race 2026 Peninsula Track Club Grand Prix.
The 4th Annual Timberneck 5K was held under warm running conditions; sunny, clear with a slight breeze and a temperature of 74 at race start. 85 runners and walkers entered the 5K with 75 completing 5K course.
The 4th Annual TIMBERNECK 5K turned out to be a fast event with twelve new age group course records being set.
First Overall finisher, Tim Case, 43 of Williamsburg VA finished with a time of 18:53 setting a new record for Men 40-44 beating the mark of 19:13 set by Alexey Popov in 2025.
Second Overall finisher Timothy Suhr, 55 of Colquitt GA finished with a time of 19:08 setting a new record for Men 55-59 soundly beating the mark of 27:00 set by Mitch Kent in 2023.
Third Overall finisher Kelvin Anderson, 65 of Newport News VA also set a new age group record for Men 65-69 with a time of 19:34 beating the previous mark of 22:47 set by Chris Abelt in 2023.
For the Women, First Female finisher Amanda Sexton, 29 of Yorktown VA set a new age group record for Women 25-29 with a time of 20:27 besting the previous record of 20:51 set by Svitlana Honcharova in 2024.
Continuing with the Women, Second Female Overall, Crystal Witte, 41 of Yorktown VA set a new mark for Women 40-44 with a time of 22:04 beating the old time of 23:20 set by Megan Syrett in 2025.
Returning to the Men, Evan Clary, 25 of Shackelfords VA set a new record for Men 25-29 with a time of 19:55 beating the old mark of 30:46 set by Nicholas Freeman in 2023.
And for Men 85-89, Joseph Polinski, 88 of Smithfield VA set a new age group record with a time of 47:17 beating the time of 49:26 that Joseph himself set in 2025.
For Women 30-34, Hannah Dun, 30 of Hayes VA set a new record with a time of 27:06 beating the old time of 34:03 set by Meaghan Brennan in 2023.
For Women 50-54, Jelly Turner, 52 of Newport News VA set a new record with a time of 25:09 beating the old mark of 26:11 set by Jelly herself in 2025.
For Women 60-64, Melanie Hennis, 63 of Portsmouth VA set a new record with a time of 22:40 besting the old mark of 23:37 set by Connie Glueck in 2025.
For Women 70-74, Helen Worthington, 71 of Bena VA set a new record with a time of 30:32 beating the old record of 31:01 set by Helen herself in 2025.
Finally, for the Women 75-79, Patricia Travis, 75 of Williamsburg VA set a new age group record with a time of 33:01 beating the previous mark of 34:52 set by Barbara Biasi in 2025.
