  • Volunteers needed for PTC Virginia 24-hour Run for Cancer

This year, we are celebrating our 21ST ANNUAL VIRGINIA 24 HOUR RUN FOR CANCER! This race means so much to so many people, and we would not be able to do it without YOU! The volunteers who make it all possible.

As always, we are looking for lap counters to hang out, chow down on some aid station food, and spend a few hours outside encouraging runners and walkers to get “one more lap.”

Last year, we eclipsed $300,000 in donations to the American Cancer Society. A big part of that donation includes not using an automated timing system, which would cut into the proceeds and total donations. Instead, our dedicated lap counters kept track of everyone’s mileage.

We are excited to add to that total this year. And I have a feeling we are due for a gorgeous day at Sandy Bottom Nature Park.

The race takes place on April 20th, 2024 at 7AM, and goes until April 21st at 7AM at Sandy Bottom Nature Park in Hampton, Virginia. We are looking for volunteers for 6 hour time slots, listed below:

    7AM-1PM
    1PM-7PM
    7PM-1AM
    1AM-7AM

If you are interested, or know of anyone who is interested, please have them contact me to volunteer. Email address is va24hourrunforcancer@gmail.com.

I am putting together something extra special for the volunteers, where time spent volunteering can go towards gear (kind of like the miles totalled for a 500 mile jacket). It is still in the works, but I am looking forward to unveiling all the details soon.

All the best, and I’ll see you on the trails!

    -Tim
