Hello Peninsula Track Club!<\/p>\n
My name is Heleena Winter and I’m the Special Events Intern for Carpenter’s Shelter in Alexandria, Virginia. We are hosting our annual Run for Shelter on November 22nd, from 8am-10am. The race will include a 10k, 5k, and 1 Mile Fun Run. Last year, we had almost 1000 participants and hope to see even more joining us this year!<\/span><\/p>\n Race proceeds will support Carpenter’s Shelter. Carpenter\u2019s has been helping homeless individuals and families achieve sustainable independence through shelter, guidance, education, and advocacy since 1988. 90% of the shelter graduates never again return to homelessness. <\/span><\/p>\n The course is an out and back on Eisenhower Avenue in Alexandria, VA, and is USATF certified (VA -10004-RT). Timing is provided by ARE Event Productions in Association with Pacers Events. The registration fee is $35. All runners participating in this race will receive a technical shirt and swag bag if they register by November 1st. In addition, fastest overall men and women for the 10k and 5k will receive the following prizes:\u00a0 1st: $100, 2nd: $75, 3rd: $50.
