McWhorter\n\t\t\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p>Below are the award winners for the 28th Annual Coast Guard Day 5K held<br \/>\nat Coast Guard Training Center in Yorktown, VA on Saturday morning, July<br \/>\n30, 2016. The race event was organized by the Coast Guard Training<br \/>\nCenter MWR. The race itself was conducted and results were generated by<br \/>\nthe Peninsula Track Club. Conditions at race time were sunny with a<br \/>\nslight breeze and temperatures around 80.<\/p>\n<p>302 runners entered the 5K with 264 runners completing the race. The<br \/>\nrace started near the gym on the Coast Guard base, went out the front<br \/>\ngate onto the Yorktown Battlefield towards Redoubts 9 &amp; 10, then making a<br \/>\nloop that went downhill to the Wormley Creek Dam and back uphill towards<br \/>\nthe Moore house in Yorktown before returning to the Coast Guard Base<br \/>\nthrough the main gate, finishing at the gym. The course was a USATF<br \/>\ncertified 5K course (USATF cert. # VA10027RT) and was followed correctly<br \/>\nby the runners.<\/p>\n<p>The Coast Guard Day 5K was also the 7th race of the 2016 Peninsula Track<br \/>\nClub Grand Prix &#8211; a series of 12 road racing events that determine the<br \/>\n2016 PTC Grand Prix Champion.<\/p>\n<p>Awards for both male and female were given to the top 3 runners male and<br \/>\nfemale overall, top 3 runners in each age group, and top three active<br \/>\nduty Coast Guard personnel.<\/p>\n<p>For the men, Sean O&#8217;Hollearn, 23 of Hampton, VA was Top Male Overall<br \/>\nfinisher with a time of 16:26. Second Overall Male was John Piggott, 51<br \/>\nof Williamsburg, VA with a time of 17:57. John McWhorter, 25 of<br \/>\nKunkletown, PA placed as 3rd Male Overall with a time of 18:36.<\/p>\n<p>For the women, Emily Honeycutt, 25 of Newport News, VA was the Top Woman<br \/>\nOverall finishing with a time of 22:27. 2nd Woman Overall was Sheila<br \/>\nScotti, 32 of Newport News, VA (23:26) followed by Karla Havens, 54 of<br \/>\nPlainview, VA (24:01)<\/p>\n<p>In the 28th running of the Coast Guard Day 5K one new age group course<br \/>\nrecord was set and two new records were established.<\/p>\n<p>Ben Dyer, 73 of Hayes, VA set a new age group record for Men, 70-75 with<br \/>\na time of 22:08 (7:08 pace) breaking the mark of 25:37 set by Bill<br \/>\nFenwick in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Ernest Schillinger, 84 of Williamsburg established the age group record<br \/>\nfor Men, 80-84 with a finishing time of 40:59.<\/p>\n<p>And Robert S.
