The race honored the most decorated Marine in history, Marine General Chesty Puller who lived in West Point, Virginia. Proceeds from the race benefits the Wounded Warrior Project. The race itself was conducted and results were generated by the Peninsula Track Club. Conditions at race time were very good for mid June, clear, sunny, but with lower humidity, a slight breeze and temperatures in the lower 70s.
