S. Gates Memorial 5K\u00a0was held on Saturday morning, April 14, 2012<br \/>\nand was organized to raise awareness for Aplastic Anemia, Paroxsymal Nocturnal Hemoflobinuria and Myelodysplastic Syndrome. The race itself was conducted by the Peninsula Track Club.135 runners entered the 5K race (down from 155 in 2011) with 119 completing the course (down from 128 in 2011). The race started at Poquoson High School, followed a loop course on Odd Road and finished at\u00a0the Poquoson Elementary School. The course is accurately measured but is not USATF certified.
