Below are the award winners for the 7th Annual Transitions 5K held on the
\nMatteson Trail that circles The Hampton’s Golf Course in Hampton, VA.
\nThe race was held on Saturday, August 12, 2017.\u00a0 The event was organized
\nby Transitions Family Violence Services, dedicated to ending Domestic
\nViolence.\u00a0 The race itself was conducted and results were generated by
\nthe Peninsula Track Club.\u00a0 At race time conditions were humid with
\nmoderate to heavy rain during the race and a teperature of 76 at race
\nstart.<\/p>\n

The 5K run followed the Matteson Trail and was run correctly by the
\nrunners.\u00a0 This course is not USATF certified.<\/p>\n

Despite the very rainy conditions, 49 runners entered the 5K with 43
\ncompleting the 5K course.<\/p>\n

For the men, the 1st Overall was Derrick Dixon, 37 of Yorktown, VA with a
\nfast time of 18:41 despite the wet conditions.\u00a0 2nd Overall and 2nd Male
\nwas Craig Basel, 21 of Carrollton, VA in a time of 19:10.<\/p>\n

3rd place Overall was the 1st Woman, Emily Honeycutt, 26 of Newport News,
\nVA finishing in 21:28.\u00a0 2nd Woman and 4th place Overall was Karen Sanzo,
\n40 of Hampton, VA with a time of 22:49.<\/p>\n
