was held in Newport News Park in Newport News, VA on Thursday morning, May 15, 2014\u00a0 The race is part of the Virginia Senior Games this year being held in Newport News, VA.<\/p>\n

Finish line and results services were provided by the Peninsula Track Club. The Virginia Senior Games 5K was a triple out-and-back course starting at the Ranger Station on Constitution Avenue in Newport News Park.\u00a0 The course ran the length of Constitution Avenue (two of the out-and-backs) with an out-and-back section on Stable Road.\u00a0 The course is USATF certified #VA13054RT.\u00a0 The runners ran the course correctly as measured.\u00a0 Conditions at race time were partly sunny with temperatures in the 70s. Awards went to the age group winners only.\u00a0 Age groups are determined by the runners age as of Dec 31, 2014 per Virginia Senior Games guidelines.

The Virginia Senior Games 10K<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n

course followed 2 laps around the VSG 5K course, a triple out-and-back course starting at the Ranger Station on Constitution Avenue in Newport News Park.\u00a0 The course ran the length of Constitution Avenue (two of the out-and-backs) with an out-and-back section on Stable Road.\u00a0 The 10K course is USATF certified #VA14023RT.\u00a0 The runners ran the course correctly as measured.\u00a0 Conditions at race time included a steady rain with temperatures around 70.<\/p>\n

A total of 19 runners braved the rainy start with 18 runners finished the 10K.\u00a0 Awards went to the age group winners only.\u00a0 Overall winner and winner of the Male 50-54 age group was Christopher Basford with a time of 39:58 (6:26 per mile pace).
