At the Tom Ray Memorial Predict Your Time 5 Miler<\/i><\/b>, the first event in the 2022 PTC Summer Fun Run Series<\/i><\/b>, 18 runners<\/i><\/b> predicted their time for running a 5-mile stretch<\/i><\/b> of the Newport News Park Bikeway<\/i><\/b>.\u00a0 <\/span>Runner closest to their prediction wins.<\/p>\n
Rick Davenport<\/b>, 51<\/i><\/b> of Yorktown VA<\/i><\/b> won<\/i><\/b> the Predict Your Time 5 Miler<\/i><\/b> with a prediction that was :22 seconds off<\/i><\/b> his time.\u00a0 <\/span>Rick predicted 59:26<\/i><\/b> and ran the five miles in 59:04<\/i><\/b>, while finishing 12<\/i><\/b>th<\/sup><\/i><\/b><\/span> overall<\/i><\/b>.<\/p>\n
Rick Platt<\/b>, 72<\/i><\/b> of Williamsburg VA<\/i><\/b> had the second-best prediction<\/i><\/b> which was :43 seconds off<\/i><\/b> his time.\u00a0 <\/span>Rick predicted 1:01:00<\/i><\/b> and ran the five miles in 1:01:43<\/i><\/b>, while finishing 13<\/i><\/b>th<\/sup><\/i><\/b><\/span> overall<\/i><\/b>.<\/p>\n
The third-best prediction<\/i><\/b> was by Fred Denn<\/b>, 70<\/i><\/b> of Yorktown VA<\/i><\/b> which was :56 seconds off<\/i><\/b> his time.\u00a0 <\/span>Fred predicted 55:55<\/i><\/b> and ran the five miles in 54:59<\/i><\/b>, while finishing 8<\/i><\/b>th<\/sup><\/i><\/b><\/span> overall<\/i><\/b>.<\/p>\n
Jim Duffy<\/b>, 70<\/i><\/b> of Poquoson VA<\/i><\/b> was the first runner to finish the 5 miles of the Newport News Park Bikeway<\/i><\/b> with a time of 47:23<\/i><\/b>, but was 1:38 slower<\/i><\/b> than his predicted time of 45:45<\/i><\/b> to have the 8<\/i><\/b>th<\/sup><\/i><\/b><\/span> best prediction<\/i><\/b>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
The fastest woman, Karen Sanzo<\/b>, 45<\/i><\/b> of Hampton VA<\/i><\/b>, finished 3<\/i><\/b>rd<\/sup><\/i><\/b><\/span> overall<\/i><\/b> with a time of 47:25<\/i><\/b> but had the 11<\/i><\/b>th<\/sup><\/i><\/b><\/span> best prediction<\/i><\/b> of 50:16<\/i><\/b> for a differential of 2:51<\/i><\/b>.<\/p>\n

No watches are allowed during the race.\u00a0 The runner who comes closest to their estimated finish time wins. There will be prizes for the 3 runners who come closest to their estimated finish time. The race entry fee is a can of people food and a can of pet food and is taken to a food pantry by a Peninsula Track Club member.\u00a0 There is no packet pick up or pre race sign up.\u00a0 Runners show up to run or to help out.\u00a0 It is a fun summer evening of running and socializing.<\/p>\n
