Below and attached are the award winners and full results for the 38th Annual Sarfan Center 5K & 1 Mile Fun Runs<\/strong> held on the Mariners’ Museum Warwick Field in Newport News, VA on Sunday, May 19, 2024.\u00a0 The race was conducted, and results were generated by the Peninsula Track Club.\u00a0 Conditions at race time were good for running, cloudy with a cool northeasterly breeze and a temperature of 61 at race start.<\/p>\n

The out-and-back 5K course started in the Mariners’ Museum Park across from Warwick High School, followed park roads out to and across Lion’s Bridge before returning to finish near the race start.\u00a0 The 5K course is USATF Certified #VA17036RT and was followed correctly by the runners.\u00a0 The 1 Mile course was an out-and-back over the first half mile of the 5K course and is not certified.<\/p>\n

114 runners and walkers entered the events with 73 entered in the 5K with 54 completing the 5K course while 41 runners and walkers entered the 1 Mile with 35 completing the 1-mile fun run.\u00a0\u00a0 Awards went to the Top 3 Overall and the first runner in each age group in the 5K.\u00a0 No awards in the timed 1-Mile Fun Run.<\/p>\n

In the 5K for the Men, first place Overall was Patrick Wilson, 38 of Norfolk VA in a time of 17:44 (5:43 per mile pace).\u00a0 2nd for the Men (and 3rd Overall finisher) was Dillon DeMay, 15 of Poquoson VA in a time of 18:44.\u00a0 3rd place for the Men was Jeffrey Vance, 38 of Newport News VA in 22:58.<\/p>\n

For the Women, first place (and second Overall) was Sabrina Little, 37 of Newport News VA with a time of 18:19 (5:54 per mile pace).\u00a0 2nd Woman was Stefanie Salinas, 39 of Newport News VA finishing in 23:50.\u00a0 3rd place for the Women was Katelyn Brockmiller, 32 of Yorktown VA in a time of 24:49.<\/p>\n
