{"id":4235,"date":"2017-03-19T19:45:04","date_gmt":"2017-03-19T23:45:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peninsulatrackclub.com\/?page_id=4235"},"modified":"2017-03-19T20:35:03","modified_gmt":"2017-03-20T00:35:03","slug":"joe-sue-moore-memorial-ptc-scholarship-2017","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/peninsulatrackclub.com\/?page_id=4235","title":{"rendered":"Joe &#038; Sue Moore Memorial PTC Scholarship &#8211; 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Joe &amp; Sue Moore Memorial PTC Scholarship is a one-year scholarship offered by the Peninsula Track Club to graduating high school seniors accepted to and entering a regionally accredited college or university in a full-time program leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree. To be eligible the student must be a member or the dependent of a member of the <strong>Peninsula Track Club <\/strong>in the year of the application and the year of the award.<\/p>\n<p>Scholarships are awarded based upon the scholar-athlete&#8217;s achievements in high school including the following areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Academics<\/li>\n<li>Extracurricular Activities<\/li>\n<li>Running<\/li>\n<li>Club Participation (Races &amp; Volunteerism)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Achievement in the above activities will be measured by individual athletic accomplishments as well as contributions made and the degree of leadership demonstrated on a track\/cross-country team and in other extracurricular activities. The Committee will place some emphasis on accomplishments and leadership activities connected with participation in running and with volunteerism and participation in PTC activities. \u00a0Weighting of these accomplishments with academics will be determined at the sole discretionary judgement of the PTC Scholarship Committee, whose decision will be final. \u00a0All submitted information will become the property of the Peninsula Track Club and may be used or destroyed at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee.<\/p>\n<p>Awards are in an amount of up to one-thousand-five-hundred collars ($1,500.00) dependent on club fundraising and may be used for tuition, books, fees, or assessments. The award will be made payable to the institution to which the applicant will attend.<\/p>\n<p>A recipient is ineligible to receive the award for any successive years.<\/p>\n<p>The completed application form and supplemental documents must be <strong>postmarked by May 22, 2017.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The documents are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Completed Application form (see below)<\/li>\n<li>High school transcript to date of submittal.<\/li>\n<li>Two letters of recommendation.<br \/>\na. \u00a0One from the track\/cross country coach.<br \/>\nb. One from a person of the applicant\u2019s choice.<\/li>\n<li>An essay relating the applicant\u2019s running experience to applicant\u2019s educational aspirations and his\/her outlook for the future (Length 500\u00a0to\u00a0750 words, 2 to 3 double spaced typewritten pages)<\/li>\n<li>Any other information the applicant feels is pertinent to the selection process.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>All documents are to be \u00a0assembled by the applicant and mailed under one cover to:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Peninsula Track Club<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Scholarship Committee<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">P.O.
