Hilton 5K Can-Can
The 21st Annual Hilton 5K Can-Can Was held in Hilton Village in Newport News on Saturday morning, September 27, 2014.The race was sponsored by the Junior Women’s Club of Hilton Village. The course started and finished on Main Street near the Junior Women’s Club Clubhouse, winding its way around the Hilton Village area. In addition, the Hilton 5K is the 8th race of the Peninsula Track Club Grand Prix series. This was evidenced by the fact that half of the 5K finishers were PTC members. Next race in the series is the Poquoson Seafood Festival 5K on October 4.At race time temperatures were great for running – in the low 60s, sunny with a slight breeze and mild humidity.This year 66 runners entered the 5K (down from 92 runners in 2013) with 64 runners completing the course (down from 86 in 2013). The course is USATF certified #VA13042RT and the course was run as certified. The course has remained basically unchanged since the race inception in 1993.

9:00 a.m. 5k (3.1 miles)

Woman’s Club of Hilton Village Clubhouse,87 Main Street, Newport News, VA 23601
Awards: 5k:Top finishers, Male &Female (3 each)
There will be three awards given in each of the following age groups, both male
and female: 14 & under, 15-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, over 70.
Walkers:
Top finishers, Male & Female (3 each)
ALL Finishers will receive a finisher’s medal
Race day registration:
7:00 a.m.–8:45 a.m. at clubhouse.
Early packet pick up:Friday, September 26th, 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Refreshments:
Following the race there will be light refreshments to include snacks and water

Door Prizes:Drawing for door prizes after the race. Bring in a canned good and receive an extradoor prize raffle ticket
