ALL RUNNERS RESULTS: Tabb5Kall
Below are the award winners for the 10th Annual Tabb High School May Day
5K held on the roads adjacent to Tabb High School in York County. The
race was held on Saturday morning, April 28, 2018. Proceeds support the
Tabb High School Track Team.
The race officiating and results were done by the Peninsula Track Club.
Full results will be posted on the Club website,

Conditions at race time were sunny and pleasant with a temperature of 64
at race start. The course was accuratly measured, but is not USATF
certified.
270 runners entered the 5K with 204 runners and walkers completing the
course.
Awards went to the top 3 Overall men and women, top 3 Masters (aged 40
and over) men and women, the top 3 in each age group and the top 3
walkers, for both men & women .
The 5K race was won by Akel Swinton, 16 of Hampton VA in a time of 17:28
(5:38 per minute pace). 2nd for the men was Andre Jones, 17 of Yorktown
VA in a time of 18:13 followed by Michael Menapace Jr, 15 of Yorktown VA
for 3rd with a time of 18:23.
1st Overall for the Women was Brooke Gainey, 30 of Newport News VA in a
time of 21:38 (6:58 pace). 2nd for the women was the 2017 winner, Emily
Honeycutt, 27 of Newport News VA in a time of 21:50 (8 secoonds faster
than her 2017 winning time). 3rd for the women was Jenna Leinonen, 17 of
Yorktown VA with a time of 23:08.
Three new course age group records were set in the 10th edition of the
Tabb May Day 5K.
Top Masters for the men, Jack Lovett, 49 of Yorktown VA set a new record
for Men 45-49 with a time of 19:05, besting the previous record of 19:13
set by Michael Reed in 2010.
Overall Women’s winner, Brooke Gainey, 30 of Newport News VA set a new
age group record for Women 30-34 with a time of 21:38 beating the
previous record of 22:21 set by Victoria Ferreira in 2011.
Pauline Ely, 79 of Hampton VA established an age group record for Women
75-79 with a time of 49:11.
