The 12th Annual Toys for Tots 5K and 8K held at the Mariners’ Museum Park in Newport News, VA. The race was held on Thanksgiving morning, November 22, 2012. The event was organized by Happy Pace Races. The races themselves were conducted and results were generated by the Peninsula Track Club. Conditions at race time were sunny and breezy with temperatures around 50.A total of 1275 runners entered the events, 1044 runners in the 5K and 231 in the 8K. 919 runners and walkers completed the 5K and 231 runners completed the 8K.Neither course (5K or 8K) are USATF certified.
Several runners ran both the 5K & 8K, notably Karen Terry, 23 of Newport News who was first women Overall in both the 5K & 8K events. Langston Shelton, 65 of Grafton won the Men 65-69 age group in both the 5K & 8K events as well.
