The race was sponsored by the Peninsula School for Autism and marks the begining of April which is Autism Awareness Month.The 10K course started on Stable Road in Newport News Park, Newport News, VA. The course was on roads and trails within the park. Saturday was a good day for running with clear skies, a breeze and temperatures in the low 50s at race time.135 runners entered the event with 87 in the 10K and 48 in the 1 Mile. 72 runners completed the 10K race and 45 runners and walkers completed the 1 Mile Fun Run.Results are provided by the Peninsula Track Club. The course is accurately measured, but is not USATF certified since it is mostly on trails. The Run for Autism 10K is the 4th race in the 2012 Peninsula Track Club Grand Prix Race Series. |
