The 4th Annual T. S. Gates Memorial 5K was held on Saturday morning, April 14, 2012
and was organized to raise awareness for Aplastic Anemia, Paroxsymal Nocturnal Hemoflobinuria and Myelodysplastic Syndrome. The race itself was conducted by the Peninsula Track Club.135 runners entered the 5K race (down from 155 in 2011) with 119 completing the course (down from 128 in 2011). The race started at Poquoson High School, followed a loop course on Odd Road and finished at the Poquoson Elementary School. The course is accurately measured but is not USATF certified. Conditions at race time were cool with a breeze and cloudy, temperatures in the 50s.
