The 19th Annual Yorktown Battlefield 10 Miler & 5K runs were held on the tour roads of the Yorktown Battlfield on Saturday morning, November 3, 2012 The race was sponsored by the Yorktown Lion’s Club.Finish line and results services were provided by the Peninsula Track Club.The 10 Miler was also the 10th race in the 2012 PTC 12-race Grand Prix Series.Both courses started and finished near Surrender Field on the battlefield. Conditions at race time for the 5K were cloudy, breezy with temperatures in the upper 40s. For the 10 Miler conditions were cloudy
to mostly sunny with the temperature around 50 and an increased breeze.A total of 194 runners entered the events (down from 243 in 2011). 154 runners completed the 10 Miler (up from 153 in 2011) In the 5K, 40 runners completed the course, (down from 75 in 2011).
The 10 Miler course was measured for USATF re-certification prior to the event and a certification number should be available shortly. The 5K course is not certified. Both courses were run correctly by the runners.
