| The award winners for the 5th Annual Riverwatch on the Piankatank 5K held on the roads in the Riverwatch community on the Piankatank River in Gloucester, VA on Saturday afternoon, November 13, 2021 are listed below. The race was conducted by the Peninsula Track Club. The Riverwatch on the Piankatank 5K was the 9th race in the 10-race PTC Grand Prix for 2021 as well as a Hampton Roads Super Grand Prix event. The 5K course is not USATF certified at this time, but was accurately measured and was run correctly by the runners. Conditions at race time were great for running, sunny with a temperature around 60 at race start. 83 runners and 16 walkers entered the race, with 72 runners and 14 walkers completing the 5K. Awards went to the Top 3 Overall Men & Women, top 3 in each age group and top 5 Men & Women walkers.At the 5th Annual Riverwatch on the Piankatank 5K there was a fast field with no less than 9 age group course records set.Race winner, Luke Henkel, 18 of Virginia Beach VA set a new age group record for Men 15-19 with a time of 16:53 breaking the mark of 19:07 set by Isaac Lamrecht in 2017.2nd Overall for the Men, Adam Kenyon, 40 of Suffolk VA set a new age group record for Men 40-44 with a time of 17:39 breaking the mark of 17:44 set by Andy Riley in 2020.3rd Overall for the Men, Zachary Novitske, 37 of Hayes VA set a new age group record for Men 35-39 with a time of 18:22 breaking the mark of 19:35 that Zachary himself had set in 2020.For Men 9 and Under, Bryton Lee, 9 of Quinton VA set a new age group record with a time of 27:33 breaking the mark of 29:19 set by his brother Braxton Lee in 2019.For Men 65-69, Pete Gibson, 65 of Murfreesboro NC set a new age group record with a time of 19:37 breaking the mark of 24:00 set by James Gullo in 2020.For the Women, 1st Overall Female Svetlana Goncharova, 23 of Williamsburg VA set a new age group record for Women 20-24 with a time of 20:35 breaking the mark of 21:53 Svetlana had set in 2020.The 2nd place for Women, Kim Novitske, 36 of Hayes VA set a new age group record for Women 35-39 with a time of 21:49 breaking the mark of 21:52 set by Kim Decker in 2017.For Women 60-64, Norma Phillips, 61 of Williamsburg VA set a new age group record with a time of 25:42 breaking the mark of 25:50 set by Helen Worthington in 2018.For Women 75-79, Nancy Blount, 75 of Williamsburg VA established a new age group record with a time of 41:22.
