Below and attached are the award winners for the 9th Annual Hampton City Schools RUN FOR THE STAGE 5K Run held on the trails in Sandy Bottom Nature Park in Hampton. Awards went to the top 3 men and women overall, the top 3 in each age group. The race was held on Saturday morning, May 11, 2024.
The Run for the Stage 5K had a total of 310 runners and walkers entering the 5K with 183 runners and walkers completing the 5K event. The course, which follows the trails within the Sandy Bottom Nature Park, is not USATF certified. Conditions at race time were good for running – mostly cloudy and cool with a temperature of 56 degrees at race start.
For the men First Overall was Nick Houser, 18 of Hampton VA with a time of 21:24 (6:54 per mile). Second place was Curtis Blauch, 34 of Yorktown VA with a time of 21:48 followed by third place Thomas Worrell, 41 of Hampton VA finishing in 22:07.
For the women, first place went to Madison Whitlock, 22 of Hampton VA with a time of 23:30 (7:34 per mile). In second place was Abigail Dors, 25 of Yorktown VA with a time of 23:47 followed by Marie Giles, 42 of Hampton VA finishing third in 25:08.
