The 3rd Annual ECPI 8K held at Mariners’ Museum Park in Newport News, VA on Saturday morning, September 13, 2014. The race event benefited the Peninsula SPCA. The race itself was conducted and results were generated by the Peninsula Track Club. The course is USATF certified #VA14041RT and was run correctly by the runners. Conditions at race time were cloudy and humid with temperatures in the mid 70s.103 runners entered the 8K (up from 68 in 2013) with 80 completing the race (up from 58 in 2013). The race started and ended at Mariners’ Museum Park across from Warwick High School. The out and back course followed Boundary Road through the park to River Road, across Lion’s Bridge and up Museum Drive to a turnarounds near the Mariners’ Museum itself, then returning the same route. The 8K course has been USATF Certified #VA14041RT and was followed correctly by the runners.
